I saw Okorie and Maxime together on same Card team
Okorie with electrifying drives to the basket with a last second dish to Maxime for a slam dunk
Maxime posting up and making deceptive no look pass to the cutting Okorie who slides in for a layup and one
Unfortunately I woke up
Maxime is in the NBA
And Okorie teamed up with, well, not Maxime
The worst part is that the most likely outcome is that Okorie will either go to the NBA or portal to the highest bidder and a generational player will most likely not go to the tournament with a Stanford jersey on his back. When Brevin Knight transformed the Stanford team, he also didn’t go to the Tournament his freshman year. But with the arrival of Tim Young the next year, we got to witness how Brevin sparked a return to being a top tier team. The most incredible thing was that we went to the Final Four the year after he left, showing that his he started a flywheel whose momentum continued into men’s basketball success until Mamlet and Montgomery’s retirement derailed it.
In a different era, Okorie could have been the spark that resurrected Stanford basketball for a generation. But in today’s environment, it would be a most pleasant surprise if we even got to see him at Stanford two years.
