Jimmy Butler ACL tear probably means he'll miss part of next season too. Funnily, it could mean that they have to keep Kuminga, although a complete tear-down of the roster now seems like it's coming.

Time to pull the emergency tanking procedure lever.

De'Anthony Melton's been out much of the last year, he was a healthy scratch last night for "ACL injury management." He injured his AC on 11/12/24, season-ending surgery to repair it.

When Butler went out, the Warriors were leading 77-75. They outscored Miami 58-37 the rest of the way. Maybe they'll be okay without Butler, meaning a play-in team. Curry will get more double teams, so he'll get more assists. He had 11 last night (with 19 points), he's only had 11 one other time this season, on January 14. They're going to have to replace Butler's 20 ppg -- which weren't very efficient -- Butler's eFG% (.554) is about the same as Moody's and Post's (both .553). Will Richard, on the other hand, is tops on team at .611. Gui Santos, also strong at .582, he'll probably get a bigger role. Kuminga is 2nd to last at .475.

With Kuminga? When asked if Butler's injury meant more playing time for Kuminga, Kerr replied "Sure. Absolutely."

Kuminga and Buddy Hield were traded for Kristaps Porzingis tonight.  Trayce Jackson-Davis was traded to the Raptors for the Lakers' 2026 second-round pick.

He's the Todd Shell of the NBA, all right. Both his playing time and the number of games he plays has declined three years in a row, though his per-36-minutes numbers are still strong. 

Only positive I can really say is that Kuminga had the worst disparity on the team between offensive rating (103) and defensive rating (115), a -12. Buddy's wasn't much better at 109 and 114 respectively. Second worst among the rotation players was Draymond (-11), then Melton (-7), then Buddy. Interestingly, TJD's was +113, 125 ORating, 112 DRating. Always thought he got a bad rap. Best of the starters, far and away, was Butler at +21. Curry was only +4.
