Vitello is a real plus. His interviews to date are a refreshing change from the empty rhetoric of Melvin. With the support system that Posey has built around him (in particular, Bochy and Baker), I think he will be very successful. I’m looking forward to a much more aggressive running game.
And the fielding should be better with Bader taking charge in the outfield and Washington coaching the IF.
I think the offensive keys are:
Adames playing well from the jump.
Devers playing as well as he is paid.
Eldridge earning a call-up and breaking out at the big league level.
Bailey hitting at a league average for catchers.
And the pitching keys:
Good health - Miller, Houser and Mahle must stay off the IL.
Walker returning to form.
One or two of the young guys must step up - McDonald is my candidate for the organizational pitcher most likely to have a breakout season.
Obviously, to hit all of these keys is tantamount to hitting the lottery; however, there is no reason to expect there will be more misses than hits.
