Strictly speaking, I do not definitively know that what I assumed to be true was in fact the case, or was effectively the case. 

So let me rephrase: if and to the extent that TV was allowed or encouraged to name her preferred successor, that she chose KP, and that BM accepted TV's suggestion and offered the job to KP without doing a serious nation-wide search, then I would find that unwise and unacceptable.
