I'm not sure how we could have hired someone other than KP, given her tenure sitting next to TV for all those glory years.  By all rights, she should be a good WBB coach for Stanford.  It's not looking that way.

Absolutely agree that KP realistically had to be given the shot at head coach. If she'd been bypassed and someone else selected, then we stumbled as we have, there would be screaming about how KP was done wrong and Stanford made an egregious mistake against a longtime loyal and successful assistant coach. With ramifications throughout all our athletics that loyalty to Stanford meant nothing to the University. That being said, there can and should be a realistic timeline / shelf life on how long to carry on as-is if things are not working out great.
