Levin was also supportive of athletics in general but did again say (my paraphrase) "the AD has to get back to self funding"

Which I think is all you really need to know, because self-funding in this environment, with the TV deal and travel costs we have while carrying the number of sports that we carry is going to be nearly impossible absent a Big Donor.

I have posted many times about the fiscal challenges that the University had last year, and why that meant I thought that it was unlikely that the University would pony up the support needed to get to where most people on this board want/expect us to be.

Without the aforementioned Big Donor, we are going to struggle to even support the existing sports at the level we support them.  Forget winning the NIL wars for plum players in football, mens/womens basketball and superstars in other sports (like Canady).
