I think Eschmeyer is a better blocker than Brink -- certainly at this stage in their careers. She always stays vertical when blocking, and has excellent body control. I'm excitied that she decided to stay and am looking forward to watching her play, with more playing time, and hopefully a better offensive scheme.
Uh, Brink broke the school's all-time single-season blocks record as a freshman. Alex finished with nearly half as many blocks (88 vs. 43). And lest you think Brink fouled more to accomplish that, they were essentially identical in fouls per game (2.5 vs. 2.4).
But I admire the homer enthusiasm!
Agreed, I'm hoping AE gets to be better than CB, but, for now, I don't think it's close. There's a reason we refer to blocks as Brinks.
It's not a stat but how many less opportunities did Brink have to block a shot because opponents knew not to challenge her?
I don't think Alex is at the stage where players will avoid going at her because they fear getting their shot rejected.
