I saw it in an IMAX theatre last Saturday.  It is a remarkable achievement, especially considering that nearly the entire movie was filmed without utilizing CGI.

I'm a visual effects artist.

I didn't work on The Odyssey but I can tell you that it contains a lot of CGI.  Same with every other movie that claims they didn't use it.

For the past decade when a film is released it's been common for the studio PR machine to crank up claiming, "We shot this all practically!"

Then about 6 months later they'll quietly release their VFX reel showing that they did in fact use CGI.
