The first time I ever became aware of Dolly Parton was when I was maybe 9 or 10, and a school field trip took us by the San Onofre nuclear plant south of San Clemente. An older kid called it the Dolly Parton Memorial. This was in the 90's when she wasn't necessarily at the forefront of popular culture, so I presume it had been dubbed as such a long time before. Perhaps SoCal kids still call it that.

She of course had an incredible sense of humor, in addition to all her other qualities.

“I was the first woman to burn my bra – it took the fire department four days to put it out.”
