The Giants have the second worst record in the National League at 58-81. The Braves have the third best record in the NL, just a game behind the Dodgers at 82-57.
Somehow, some way, the Giants finished 5-1 vs. the Braves this season, outscoring them 30-15. BTW, the Braves are the Giants-East. On the Braves roster are former Giants Mike Yastrzemski, Mauricio Dubon, Dominic Smith, Chadwick Tromp, Joey Bart, and Tyler Mahle (trraded for Anthony Molina, tonight's winner).
It ain’t the Giants. It ain’t the Braves. It’s baseball. It is incomprehensible. That is what makes it such a great sport. As the saying goes, “You never know what you might see when you head out to the ballpark.”
By the way, a bit of trivia from today’s game that I found hard to believe:
Matt Olson and Rafael Devers are the only two players in MLB this year with 30 HRs and 30 doubles.
Devers has seven home runs over his last 13 games dating to his Aug. 21 blast against his former team, the Boston Red Sox. It's a stunning show of power considering he had two home runs through his first 36 games this year.
He's the first player in league history to hit two or fewer homers through his first 36 games while still reaching 30 homers before September.
