Stanford is #3 in Elo-Chess.
The computer rankings are key for any Stanford automatic BCS invite. I believe both SEC teams ahead of Stanford will lose at least once, so that could enable Stanford to move in at #4 in the BCS with the help of a #2 or #3 averagae computer ranking. Of course, 11-1 is essential so Big Game is, well, big.
However, Wisconsin is super close. Their games have a higher profile and a similar computer ranking. Ignore Sagarin for the moment, since that formula is more pro-Pac-10 than the others. If Stanford is "only" #5 in the BCS and the best non-AQ is #3, then it will be Alamo for the team. Not only will Wisconsin, Michigan State and Ohio State have a higher profile BCS race, they also will play nationally televised games in front of 80,000+.
Stanford finishes 9-3 - Alamo
Stanford finishes 10-2 - Alamo
Stanford finishes 11-1 - Alamo, Orange, Sugar or Rose
Stanford finishes 11-1 & many other top BCS teams fall - BCS (maybe)
