One other note: the play that worked by getting Randle the foul and nearly a three point play late in regulation was the play that Stanford absolutely killed the Huskies with at Maples - Randle at the top, a pick at both sides of the top of the paint, and him driving at his choice. He could either split the picks, or work to his left or his right, depending on how the defenders played it.Â
Why that play appeared exactly once in the second half is a mystery to me. Instead, we often had him trying to run through baseline screens without the ball to spot up in either corner or wing, and Brown up top, whose driving ability is not nearly at Chasson's level.
One other thing I wonder about - it seems that the sets that are run are often "single option" - they are designed to get one particular player in one particular situation. If that doesn't work out, they either reset or freelance. It just looks too simple and easy to disrupt.
As for Powell, I just wish he would finish AT the rim more often, rather than trying to flip the ball up from a foot or three away.
