...apparently Carter might only be ready some time early in the season. My fingers are crossed that it is about getting into playing shape and not about the injury lingering.

Haven't read anything suggesting Carter will miss any games, but even of he does, Stanford appears to have quality depth in the secondary that will mitigate such a reality.  Only a couple of seasons ago, if a starting Stanford CB was going to be out, it would be like losing a limb.  Now, it's just a minor flesh wound.
