Is there something in Tara's system that intimidates players who were scoring machines in high school? For instance, Taylor Greenfield was aggressive on offense her frosh year, then rarely peeked at the basket until she went off in last year's PAC-12 tournament. And why did it take Krista Rappahahn until her senior year to become a proficient 3-point sharpshooter (as Candace was whistled for charging into Simone Augustus, Krista buried a 3 from the right corner that was waved off)?
With defenses overplaying Lili, it seems to me that McPhee is the only other Cardinal willing to create her own shots. Even Karlie, in my opinion, was more willing to put it up last season.
The offense is hamstrung because defenses know that Kaylee and Marta rarely look to shoot, and virtually dare Brianna to attempt a basket. If other teams concentrate on defending three floor players, of course it's tough to break 60 points.
