I've been wanting to go to a Stanford Football game at Notre Dame for some time and am thinking this might be the year to go - with Bryce Love and this team.

I'm trying to figure out if it is worth renting a car or if its better to take the Anthony Travel Tailgate Train from Chicago to Notre Dame. Any advice?

I intend to go, but I'll be departing from Detroit.  I like taking the train, but it doesn't really work for me timing-wise.  I'll probably just rent a car, in all likelihood.  It's just a little over three hours.

I would love to go this year, but have not made any plans yet.  I have gone in the past and went on the train.  It was an absolute BALL!!!!  Of course, the train ride back was enhanced by our thrashing of the Domers in an upset!!!

I'm going...with about 12 viejo amigos. We've been once before and, by all means, take the train. It's a blast!...even when it pissed down rain most of the game and the refs, well, let's say they were not Kulabafi fans...and vice-versa. We stayed at the Drake in Chicago, which was a lot of fun as well. How could you not like Pete Lazetich doing his rendition of "Ghost Riders in the Sky" with accompanying giddyup butt slaps in the bar?

So, are you bragging that when you butt-slapped Lazetich in the bar you weren't thrown out and arrested or bragging that Lazetich didn't clock you?

I'm going for the third time and am taking the train for the first time. I'm not sure it was an option the last two times I went (in the 90s).

Both of the previous times I drove or rode and it was a royal PITA even with planning to arrive 2-3 hours ahead of time to tailgate - South Bend's infrastructure is poorly designed to handle the volume of cars even that long before the game.

I'm also a bit older now and with the later kick I wouldn't want to be driving back to Chicago for 3 hours starting at 10pm Central time.
