It seems in soccer, a lot of shots are relatively weak & easy saves. Today, Stanford had a lot of very legitimate shots. (For instance see the shot about 10 seconds before Stanford's goal.) Late in the game, I remember the announcer saying there were 12 saves for WSU total, with 3 by non-goalies (at least two of which were at a net when the goalie was not able to defend). IIRC, there were two shots that bounced off the goal as well. Stanford played well enough to get many great chances to score, but the WSU goalie played very well, plus the other players who blocked shots. I'm sure the WSU goalie deserves the defensive player of the week.
On the other hand, Stanford's goalie made one costly mistake. She had come off the line (I think out of the box) to get the ball and then passed too lazily. A WSU player intercepted the pass, and, in a couple of steps had a shot at the empty goal. I suspect she'll never make that mistake again, but the damage is done. (Btw, Stanford's goal came on a failed clear, but the box was crowded, not empty.)
As the announcers noted, the tying goal seemed to give WSU energy and the rest of the game was played fairly evenly. Did Stanford get exhausted, or was there a mental letdown, I don't know.
