$C may have won 6-0, but lost solid forward Penelope Hocking to a really nasty looking turned ankle midway through the second half - she stepped on a teammate's foot, and rolled her ankle 90 degrees plus.
One other score, in light of my previous post on the SEC: the Mississippi State team that finished 2-6-2 in conference, but got in on the strength of a gamed non-conference schedule that, only playing 1 team in the top 60, gained them a top RPI. Yeah. They lost at home to Lipscomb, 1-0, in 2OT. You could say that's just soccer, but I confess to a bit of schaedenfreude. Auburn also lost their first round game, but more excusably, at Minnesota.
Hey, Hofstra hopefully gets a free trip to San Francisco next weekend. In Stanford's bracket, lined up against the winner of Wisconsin v. Memphis (who also managed the RPI well - they were the one ranked team that Mississippi State played.)
Will be interested to see what lineup comes out tonight - will Ratcliffe try to be one more week of healing for some of the injured against a presumptively overmatched opponent?
