It’s a fun chart
1) Hoping for better
2) Whither UConn? Is it a numbers issue with them?

They're banking on Jones and Boston committing - only one other recruit who's verballed. Fingers crossed they get one at most, and the one whose name is in keeping with New England.

Hmm. Call me cynical, but doing so on ESPN makes me think she's going to go with the Huskies, given their ties to the platform....

Another tea leaf reading exercise is whether Stanford announces its signing class before Monday. If we do, it means we know Haley won't be coming.

The announcement nowhere indicates that the class is complete.

Bummer. Was really hoping for a transformational four woman class.

When was the last time we got 1) An agile 6'5" center, 2) the best pure shooter available, and 3) a highly touted forward who can dunk--all in the same class? Sure, it will be great if we get a fourth but given that we have the #2 player coming in the following year, and given how well our freshmen are playing this year--I still think Tara can get her 3rd national championship.(11-14-2018, 10:08 AM)81alum Wrote:(11-14-2018, 09:37 AM)ca245 Wrote:Well, I hope that is not correct, since we just announced the three we knew about:(11-14-2018, 08:28 AM)2006alum Wrote: Hmm. This from ESPNW:
V: VanDerveer. Stanford coach Tara VanDerveer has outdone even herself with a terrific trio heading the Cardinal way. Ashten Prechtel, a 6-foot-5 post player ranked 16th, has been dubbed "Little Keith" because her game has similarities to that of Keith Van Horn, the former NBA player and her club coach. Fran Belibi, a 6-foot-1 forward and the No. 23 prospect, is best known for her viral dunks. Rounding out the class is one of our favorite names headed for an NLI this season: Hannah Jump. She's a 5-foot-11 point guard ranked 50th who has a knack for seizing the big moments.

I'm just curious. At what point in this process does a virtuous cycle unfold in which the quality of our early commits substantially increases the likelihood that Jump will see the power of her joining up with our first three. Since we are coached by a legendary woman who has demonstrated her ability to develop talent and win championships, that would be a further motivation I presume. But does anyone else have the combination of three such high quality recruits, a coaching legend as well as a Stanford degree to offer? I think not. Shouldn't we be a lock if she is the least bit rational?
Not to worry. I believe my fundamental ignorance protects us from any woofing god wrath.

I presume you mean Jones. Jump is one of the three who signed.
Unfortunately we have to contend with UConn's longer term vi(rtu|ci)ous circle of getting great talent and winning championships with that talent. Still we can win many of the recruiting battles for kids who want top academics as well as a top team in their sport with a hall of fame coach.

Dawn Staley and South Carolina picked up Latiecia Amihere today, which is her 3rd top-15 recruit in the last few weeks and Jones still has the Gamecocks in her final five
