Stanford's women advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals with a tough 1-0 win over Wisconsin yesterday. Jordan DiBiasi scored on a header in the 1H for the only goal. https://www.instagram.com/p/BqV5ZSOhJKc/ Once again, Stanford was able to win without any of its injured players - Gruebel, Haley, McGrady, Davidson. 

Coincidentally, DiBiasi also scored the only goal in Stanford's 1-0 round of 16 win last year vs. Florida State.

Stanford advances to face bracket #2 seed Tennessee on Friday at 2pm at Cagan Stadium. Tennessee is playing in the quarters for the first time ever.

In 3 of the 4 women's brackets, the quarterfinal match up is 1 vs. 2 seed. UCLA gets a chance to take out everyone's least favorite team North Carolina.

The Stanford men knocked off UC Irvine 2-0 in a match that was closer than the result. Stanford scored on a penalty kick in the 72nd minute and added an insurance goal in the 83rd minute. Irvine has several excellent chances but could not convert.

The men advance to the round of 16 vs. St Mary's. That match will be in Moraga on Sunday at 1 pm. Stanford and St. Mary's played an exhibition match this season with Stanford winning 2-1. But that was back in August.

Also not playing against the Badgers were star defender Tegan McGrady and dangerous forward Madison Haley, who was in uniform at the ready. Ratcliffe expects McGrady and Haley to be on the pitch vs. the Lady Vols.

Observant Stanford fans will recognize a familiar name on another quarterfinal team. Kyra Carusa has started every game for #1 seed and undefeated Georgetown. She has been a major contributor, scoring 9 goals and assisting on 10 others this season.

Another grad transfer Mariah Lee played 13 games for Wake Forest this season, scoring 1 goal. Wake upset #2 seed West Virginia before losing to Penn State in the NCAAs.
