Same story as last year’s regional. Too many strikeouts. Our hitters are playing tight and indecisive. In last year’s two losses to Fullerton, we had 26 strikeouts. Through 8 innings tonight we have 10.

So, we play Sac St tomorrow at noon. If we win, we play Fresno St at 6 pm. If we win that one, we play Fresno St the next day at 7 PM.
I was one complaining about our 11th seed. Now let's see how good this team really is.
If we beat Sac St, how big an advantage is it for Fresno St. to play us in our second game of the same day?

UCLA dropped their game to LMU. What? All three remaining Pac-12 teams have to work their way through the elimination bracket.

Seven of the Ks were of the backward variety, at least three times with runners on base. Still, it was 1-1 until our center fielder seemed to lose the ball in the lights and let the ball go over his head. Then the floodgates opened. Can’t afford to give a good opponent so many chances. Let’s hope we hit well again against Sac State and that Fresno State has used up their best arms...

Bruins, ASU and our guys 1-1.
By my count, only six of the top 16 teams in the coaches' poll
have won both their games.
And two top 16 teams, West Virginia and Oregon State,
are out, although the Beavers' ranking was ridiculous.
And if things don't look good for this year's Pac 12.
next season could be hideous,
particularly if UCLA's star jiuniors opt for the draft.
Oregon State's strength was its pitching and Rutschman,
and Mulholland, Fehmel, and Pearce graduate and
Eisert seems certain, and Gambrell likely, to declare,
leaving them with a hopefully-repaired Abel as the only proven pitcher.
We get killed, too, of course.
Not sure about Cal and ASU,
but they may inherit the top of the conference
by near default.

So now Larry Scott's death touch has infected Pac-12 Baseball, just one year after winning the championship? Sure looks that way.
Cal fans certainly didn't have love for Esquer as his teams routinely failed at the end of the season, but Cal put up a truly pathetic effort in their series with the coach they were happier to have.

So now Larry Scott's death touch has infected Pac-12 Baseball, just one year after winning the championship? Sure looks that way.

Batting eighth in the order, Bellafronto had an HR and got on base 2x in four plate appearances (as did Mav Handley, who walked twice in his four plate appearances and Daschbach who was HBP and walked) and Bellafronto was the only starter who played the full game and didn't strike out. I wonder if they'll move him up in the order.

There’s some good back-and-forth dialogue on Twitter between Baseball America’s Teddy Cahill (@tedcahill) and Perfect Game’s Patrick Ebert (@PGPatrickEbert) debating the merits of Esquer’s decision to start Williams over Miller. Personally, I like it. Save Miller for tonight’s game. The counter argument is that he’s getting ahead of himself and you play one game at a time but in my mind there’s no consolation prize for second place. You put your team in the best position possible to win the next three games and that means matching your best eligible starter up against the best opposition. That being said, Esquer could wind up with some serious egg on his face if we bow out without having thrown arguably our two best pitchers in Miller and Little.

Anybody know how much are game tickets for a single game? I'm thinking about going to tonight's game if single game tickets are available. Thx.

Whoever agreed with Esquer on his starter today seems to have won the argument.
It's 12-3 after 7th and Stanford's starter has thrown 92 pitches. Probably can go the route with such a big lead. If the goal was to not use the pen at all against Sac State, it seems mission accomplished.
