<p>The wok effect must be hurting ticket sales.&nbsp; I cannot imagine making the decision to forego watching the game in the comfort of my home for free, just to fork out hundreds of dollars and an entire day and be forced to stand in a crowded concourse watching the game on a TV monitor because I want to avoid heat stroke and/or skin cancer.&nbsp; I wonder if the fancy new CAL sound system improved the audio in the concourse?</p>

If they could figure it out in 72 CE, the greatest University with one of the greatest Engineering schools in the world ought to figure it out in 2019.

It was funny to watch the “shady side” from my end zone seats. The sections under the shadow of the press box were perfectly packed; those outside, still in the sun, were barren. The concourse was a mess. It was impossible to make it around for concessions, even well after the half.

I think some sort of retractable awning would be great. The game itself was sunny and warm but not oppressively so. It was a lot to take for 4 hours, but I’ve been in much more miserable conditions.

I went outside at halftime to refill my water bottles. There was even a line at the taps there, but not too long.

On the way out, the tunnel was half full of people standing along the sides to catch the cool breeze.

On the way back in I went up the stairs to the top and back down the nearest stairway to my section, to avoid the crowd in the concourse. That worked great. I also noticed for future reference that there was hardly any line for the restrooms up at the top.

Random joking but semi-serious idea:

Instead of all the cost/effort to construct an awning at the stadium, why not attach some tarp to a bunch of drones and fly them above the stadium for the 1-2 days per year when this is needed? Could be a fun project for some CS students.
