Stanford is a terribly coached football team right now. The evidence is everywhere you look and is quite disheartening. I made posts before the season that illustrate the quality of talent on the roster, in part to make fans more optimistic, but also to raise expectations on performance.

While I did predict UCF to win 38-20, after catching flak for making a post dedicated to declaring a Stanford loss at USC would transpire, I wanted to point out a few things I saw yesterday that struck me.

1. Costello and Adebo were generally terrible. How do your best players and leaders play so poorly when the team needs them most?

2. How is it an OL that has been as injured as the 2018 version, and is relying on more True Frosh than ever, is to my eye, better than the 2018 version?

3. Why are they huddling when down 4 TDs?

4. When UCF declined holding penalty that left Stanford with 4th and 10 in UCF territory, why not go for it? That was an opening to shift the momentum and Shaw punted. UCF scored on the ensuing drive.

5. Why did Austin Jones only get one carry in each of first two games?

6. Why shotgun on 4th and 1?

7. Why is Sinclair not on depth chart but playing fast and noticeable behind Beecher?

8. Why is no pass rush developing with so many options from which to choose?

9. Why isn’t Symonds playing more? He could be the best non-OL blocker on offense. 

10. On one play Symonds and Heimuli are in backfield, on another Jones and Peat. What the hell is this team’s identity?
