Well I think it's fair to say that this is going to be a down year for Stanford football. The questions at this point are a) how down?, b) is it a blip or a trend?, c) how to fix it?, and d) is Shaw willing to do what's needed in order to fix it?

Stars of the game:
- TreeFense: they showed up today. Holding that explosive offense with an NFL-ready QB to 21 points is a major accomplishment
- RBs: especially Cam Scarlett. He's night & day different from last year
- DL & OLB: lots of #PartyInTheBackfield

Goats of the game:
- ShawVitaBerry for terrible playcalling/adjustments. Oregon's defense is fast, and the quick-hitting runs and passes were effective because they didn't give Oregon time to react. But too many slow-developing option runs and counters allowed Oregon to adjust & react. The fast plays were there for the taking. They just didn't call nearly enough of them
- ShawVitaBerry for leaving the starting OL in on the last series, especially Sarell & Hamilton who were both under 100% going into the game and came off the field limping on a meaningless series
- ShawVitaBery for not pulling an obviously-injured Costello
- David Shaw, for once again throwing his players under the bus in his postgame comments and not placing much if any responsibility for the last three losses on his highly-paid, professional coaching staff. That's three weeks in a row and I'm getting sick of it. He's not wrong, but he's also not telling the whole truth. It's really starting to piss me off

Totally agree.  O scheme needs an overhaul of massive proportions.  Should've given Mills a chance after Costello's thumb injury.  Coaching clearly a factor.

I join all those who are discouraged, particularly with the offense.    My 4-point prescription:   

• Bring in an out-of-the box thinking.   Shaw and his staff seem "solid" (stolid?), but we need more innovation.    
  
• Need at least one coach with EUTM.   Diversity . . . 
  
• Do anything and everything you can do to improve strength/conditioning/training staff.    We need a return to being consistently as strong or stronger than our opponents, and a reduction in injuries.    
  
• Increase recruiting to fill the roster up to the scholarship limit, even if it means more 3-stars
