And let’s not forget Wazzu’s defense is a real sieve which gets even worse when the players mail it in like they did in the 2nd half vs UCLA and Kal.

Hopefully, the OL has been practicing against a front that shifts and stems a lot, so they will be ready for what WSU will do. Cal had great success by snapping the ball while WSU was moving. I did not watch Mills most recent start (Washington) , but I saw the entire Oregon State game and thought Mills play was exceptionally good. I like the way he sees and the field and his throwing technique seems to produce perfect spirals (which I expect the receivers appreciate).

The UCLA defense did move around a lot. They also blitzed essentially on every play, which so far WSU has not done. I agree it is critical that the OL handle the movement. We have had trouble with this motion for the last three years. Last year, WSU came out in cover three (without the safety coming down, in most cases), and Shaw went full aerial attack and eventually WSU switched to running cover two. Shaw said he had been too conservative against WSU in the past. While that is probably true, the fact we couldn't run a lick on anybody in 2018 probably also factored into it. We did run a bit more against the cover two, and we made some yards. Problem was, the DL often got too much penetration before the play got started. We can't have that on Saturday, or it will be a long day.

This year, with Fisk out, I would expect (hope?) to see some two back sets. I think that going under center with a fullback could help us, as WSU doesn't see a lot of that, and we haven't done a lot of that recently. It would be interesting to see Scarlett as a fullback once or twice, I think. Fake to the other back and throw to Scarlett could be effective. Certainly not something WSU has seen us do.
