The quote on quote semifinals of the NCAA tournament, even though the winner of the Stanford/SC match should be the prohibitive favorite in the final.

13-12 Stanford with 19 seconds left, USC with the ball and a powerplay about to start.
They tie it up and on to overtime. Another exclusion against us on the last powerplay. Ugh.

I doubt that has EVER happened before!
By the way, interview with Abramson after MPSF championship:

The way the brackets were set up implies USC was the #3 seed. The way SC and Pepperdine played confirmed that rough seeding. If the plan was to just make sure the host school was in the final and/or didn't need to beat two MPSF teams to win the title, then the NCAA should have stated that from the beginning.
As it stands the NCAA had a semi that would have been a great showcase of a final. A missed opportunity for the sport and for the NCAA.
I think the NCAA should audit just how exactly the Water Polo committee developed this bracket.
