The whole series is worth a watch.  In addition to Star Wars Kirby Ferguson, who put the series together, discusses remixes in everything from "Stairway to Heaven" to Quentin Tarantino films.  It's a four part series, well worth the hour or so it takes to watch.

https://vimeo.com/19447662 (Part 2: films)
https://vimeo.com/19447662 (Part 3: the interplay of inspiration and creativity)
https://vimeo.com/36881035 (Part 4: the interplay of intellectual property and remixes)

And lastly, a new video (that I hadn't seen before) very relevant to this thread, about the Force Awakens.

Went to an IMAX theater with the entire family yesterday and, having had virtually no previous knowledge of this episode, really enjoyed it. (Well, not the 30 minutes of previews beforehand.) Sure, there were a couple of questionable story parts, but in general, well worth the price of admission and good entertainment on a rainy Christmas Day. (and the kids, 24 & 22, have seen every episode before this multiple times.)

Saw it at an IMAX tonight with my wife and adult children. It was fun. I'm not going to Star Wars to see riveting acting.

Saw the original at the Coronet Theater in San Francisco after my last final in June of 1977.

Just saw it and enjoyed it.   Can see why critics don’t like it, and that is irrelevant to my enjoyment

This thread is hillarious, but ummm... spoilers.

Don’t say you weren’t warned.

Love that, BC. Topic of second tweet was my primary beef with ROS - it was so cheap and made the first two movies utterly irrelevant from the standpoint of the good/evil slash light side/dark side narrative arc.

I mean, you are right, though the sequels were always more about Ray and Ren than about who the ultimate baddie was, just as the original trilogy was about the relationship between Luke and Vader/annakin, more than the emperor.

In any case, the thread was of course correct in that there were tons of plot holes and things that didn’t make sense (even more than I appreciated at the time of viewing), but Hurlburt is absolutely right.  While I recognize why these sorts of things would bother some people, they did not get in the way of me spending an enjoyable 2 1/2 hours with my kids at the movies.
