#1 top recruit priority.. “How can I make money before I can make tons of money.” That seems like a lifetime decision not a revered 40 year decision.

If I were one of the top 150 football players in the country, and I was expected to work 40+ hours/week on football, and I didn't come from a weathly family, then I would consider the amount of money I'd make from NIL during college. If Stanford is asking people not to consider NIL income (which I doubt Stanford would do), then isn't that sort of like a potential employer saying, "Don't consider the salary or bonus. Make your job choice entirely based on what you'll learn while you're here making slave wages."

Agree. Your point is spot-on. Sitting here in the Silicon Valley, I thought you were going to say, "Don't worry about the salary or bonus, we're giving you these stock options that are already in the money and will be worth a ton after your 4-year vesting schedule and after we go public!"
Watch the video below. All 36 walk-ons at BYU are getting their tuition paid via an NIL deal with a local business. (I don't think that's the same as a full ride with room & board etc., but it's pretty darn good.) This is like those videos when Coach Shaw picks one or two walkers like Brycen Tremayne or Thunder Keck and surprises them with a scholarship... times 36.

TrumpCard’s point about some of the guys in the “middle range” having to step up is still valid, but it is good to have a top-200 safety anchoring the secondary (we’d be in even better shape had that guy from Washington not gotten himself into trouble).

Kamari Ramsey chose Stanford over all of the top-tier Pac-12 programs plus Ohio State, Notre Dame, Texas, Michigan and others. For those who are interested, there's a free article at 247sports.com here. Lots of good stuff, but I was especially interested in the following quote from Ramsey:

There have been hints here that Stanford is not likely to win the battle for Cooper. I hope that's not the case. I don't see reported GPAs for Selah Brown or Dallas Vakalahi online, but hopefully those guys are solid academically as they'd be good additions to the class too. Terrian Williams and Carson Tabarraci also seem like possibilities. I noted that Zach Rowell reported a 3.4 GPA a year ago, so I don't know whether he's a realistic option, unfortunately. I have no reason to think that Stanford is in the mix for Zion Branch or Lander Barton, but those two would be really terrific gets as well. A fair number of theoretical possibilities on defense; just need to land a few.
