Well deserved and happy for him. Barkley may be the only one who may be close to his all-around talent out of the backfield. Dalvin Cook..maybe in the ballpark too. 

However...still not happy he skipped the bowl game, although it was the best decision for him (but I'm a fan, not him).

One thing I have to question is how it makes sense to be giving record breaking contracts at a time the economy could be contracting quite a bit. Is the NFL immune from economic downturn? Of course, with all the inflation coming, that $16M won't be worth as much as it might have otherwise.

Interestingly, the latest CPI was -0.4% (https://www.bls.gov/cpi/).  Mostly because of the collapse of the price of oil, though.

I've been thinking about this as well. Considering the real possibility that next season may not happen or may open and be shut down, and how it will definitely not be a money making year, if I were a numbers focused team I would go super cheap. Let people walk. Run bare bones and in the chance of a season, load up on draft picks. Some talents you might have to lock down like McCaffrey, but other than generational talents do not pay money for a season that won't.

Now if I'm a player I want to get any guaranteed money that I can right now. 

The franchise tag players may benefit the most from this bad situation (lots of money for little to no play, then negotiate a new contract when the clouds start to clear).
