It's my interpretation of Trump's behavior. His conduct this year was so inexplicable -- why does he do what he does? Why doesn't he advocate masks? Why doesn't he ramp up PPE? Why doesn't he get the virus under control first, then re-open the economy? In my opinion, had he simply done those things, he would have cruised to re-election, despite all his flaws.

The only explanation I could think of is that Trump has needs that go beyond his own political survival. Regarding the possibility that Trump is too sick to tweet:  If this were true, the timeline doesn't seem right.  Roughly, the time line is
Exposure: Day 0
Infectious: Day 2.5
Symptoms: Day 5
Respiratory distress: Day 10

If we guess that he is in some sort of severe distress, corresponding to what happens usually around day 10, then I have to wonder about his testing status.

If respiratory distress hit on Friday (10/2), then he should have tested positive any day of the past 7 days(since 9/25), more or less.  I presume the positive test we know about was given on Wednesday (9/30).   Right now, I'd guess that was a second positive test (run as a confirmation to avoid announcing a potential false positive), where we weren't informed of a positive test on Tuesday (9/29).

Even so, that makes for several days (9/26 through 9/28 inclusive) where he likely wasn't tested, or I'd have to believe he got a false negative.

It is very hard to not point out that one reaps what they sow in this case.    And those observations may seem gleeful to some that are rightfully worried about POTUS' health.

However literally on Tuesday's debate the idea of COVID19 related precautions was a question and Trump's responses capture precisely how we got here.    He even mocked Joe's use of masks, which I suspect has a bigger impact on these middle America types then this board.  Still Trump is our POTUS and COVID19 is not a game, unlike the normal topics on this board.

I don't think anyone here has "glee" about the situation, and this idea that anyone opposing Trump must be gleeful has come up a few too many times IMHO.   

That said the candidates and their campaigns are responsible for messaging to middle America.  Their actions are seen by those in middle America.  FWIW - POTUS flippant responses to questions at that debate related to COVID and mask wearing during that debate should have greater influence on those sensitive middle America types than anything on a sports board.  

Does not matter at the moment because several members of the Trump campaign are battling a deadly disease.   That's not a gleeful situation.  I hope all of the members of Team Trump recover and then share their greater appreciation for the dangers of the disease with those in America inclined to follow their lead.

The Senate needs 51 votes to move through any Senate action. The Senate Majority Leader has decided to run the Senate so it only needs Republican votes to move any Senate business forward.  Three Republican Senators are now out with Covid, and there could be more today and tomorrow.

The Senate only allows in-person voting. If too many Republican Senators get Covid and have to quarantine, the Senate Majority Leader will only be able to move anything through the Senate with votes from Democrats.  

If two more Republican Senators go down with Covid or have to quarantine, the Senate Minority Leader will effectively be in charge of the Senate.

I think there's a lot of denial in these parts.  But at least Farm93 points out the obvious - "the reap what you sow" comment.  Of course that has to be a widely held sentiment . . . among people with a brain and "any sensitivities."  And your "certain sensitivities" comment made me chuckle.  And it also caused me to think and acknowledge that I have "no sensitivities" on this.  Truly.  Beyond the general "I don't want anyone to get Covid, and if they do I hope it's not serious" sentiment, I have no sensitivities on Trump, regardless of outcome.  Any outcome. 

Of course, I live my day-to-day life without giving Trump much thought.  That seems to be a minority position, at least among denizens of this board.  And outside this board, I think Trump fixation is a pretty common condition for a decent chunk of society, including those with the proverbial egg on their faces after the last presidential election.  But hey, they're getting the last laugh now. And it has to be so satisfying for them because, as Farm93 aptly pointed out, Trump/Reap/Sow.

I think there's a lot of denial in these parts.  But at least Farm93 points out the obvious - "the reap what you sow" comment.  Of course that has to be a widely held sentiment . . . among people with a brain and "any sensitivities."  And your "certain sensitivities" comment made me chuckle.  And it also caused me to think and acknowledge that I have "no sensitivities" on this.  Truly.  Beyond the general "I don't want anyone to get Covid, and if they do I hope it's not serious" sentiment, I have no sensitivities on Trump, regardless of outcome.  Any outcome. 

Of course, I live my day-to-day life without giving Trump much thought.  That seems to be a minority position, at least among denizens of this board.  And outside this board, I think Trump fixation is a pretty common condition for a decent chunk of society, including those with the proverbial egg on their faces after the last presidential election.  But hey, they're getting the last laugh now. And it has to be so satisfying for them because, as Farm93 aptly pointed out, Trump/Reap/Sow.  

P.S.  FWIW, I didn't read your post as schadenfreude as much as "See, I told you so" in context of your Trump psychoanalysis (which may be on the mark).  It's the latter that turns people off - much like my repetitive "I told you Shaw was a crappy offensive mind and shouldn't be calling the plays for Stanford" after every bad decision/game by Stanford.

Well, there are all sorts of sh*t people out on Twitter who did express glee and hoped that Trump would die, but I would like to believe that none of us in this community would express glee at what happened to Trump.

Yes, Trump mocked Clinton for having a pneumonia. However, one of the things that I would really like to move on to is not making what Trump would do the baseline as to what’s acceptable.  That Trump is an a-hole doesn’t mean I want the world to be full of a-holes.
