Amazing win. Incredibly satisfying for Haase I’m sure. They made mistakes down the stretch no question. But much if not all of it can be attributed to not having the people available who you want on the floor at that part of the game.
Had they lost this game it would’ve been a shame because, well because of all sorts of things, but that call on O’Connell on the drive was absurd. A ticky tack foul in the last couple seconds of the game. Pac 12 refs never cease to amaze with their incompetence.

Much credit to Delaire, who really came through as that second scorer and also had a thunderous dunk in OT on a rare fast break opportunity, and Kisunas, who stepped up to have his best game maybe ever.
I also enjoyed watching Michael O'Connell, who played far from flawless but nevertheless gets a lot of credit for not only the inbounds to da Silva on the final play but also steady ballhandling and at least a willingness to take a shot.
Really it's a team win where all contribute when it's about defense, as this game was throughout regulation. I'm back on the bandwagon in believing this team can make the NCAAs.

Just so nobody can claim that I only complain about the officiating when Stanford loses:
There were four "could go either way" calls in end of game situations:
1. Was Oscar fouled at the end of regulation? To my eyes, the only real question was whether two Ucla guys fouled him or three. Probably only two. But one should be enough.
2. Ticky tack and one call in favor of Ucla to let them get the lead at the line in overtime. Yes, there was contact, but not as much as at the end of regulation on Oscar, and he missed. How can you give an and one on that when there was no call at the end of regulation?
3. Non call on Ucla goaltending. From my admittedly biased slow-mo review after the game, that ball is on its way down. Admittedly, it's close, but it looks post-peak to me.
4. Ucla kid hits Oscar IN THE SIDE OF HIS HEAD on the game winning play while trying to block from behind (which, admittedly, is technically legal if there is no contact but is often enough standing alone to result in a foul call). No sign that any official was going to call it. [Of course, that one did not matter, but it sure would have if Oscar missed.]
Four end of game calls that could go either way. UCLA gets ALL FOUR calls. What an amazing coincidence! [Yes, they are the top team in the league. Of course, it does not matter. Our kids overcame the end of game officiating. But don't ever tell me that officiating never has an effect. Basketball officiating is a difficult job that is often done very badly. [By the way, if you are a person who believes no attention should be paid to officiating and no criticism should be directed to them, I highly recommend that you stay that way! I wish I still thought officiating was fair. It makes watching games a lot more fun. Once you start noticing the effect of officiating, it takes some of the fun out of watching sports. It is one of the nice things about watching golf, though. No real effect of officials in that game.]
What really matters is that the end of game officiating made this an even more gutsy win by the good guys. If we are honest, all of us have had our frustrations with the men's team for things like trips to the mountains. But to be down three starters and win that game is really something. That was GUTSY! [Other parts of the anatomy come to mind, but I will leave it as "gutsy."]

Mizzou (Good to see you!) I agree with you on those specific plays, but overall we shot 24 free throws to their 14, and had only 12 personal fouls to their 20.

The win was great, but it appears the never ending road show will start impacting both basketball teams (men's and women's).
Yes, some players and coaches can maintain their level even without trips to home.
However, some players and coaches might be unable to stay at the same level when unable to stay in their homes, visit with family, etc.
As it is a team game, even a few impacted by the never ending road show might be too much.
The Men's team was great today, but even if this thing falls apart it would be hard to blame our basketball staff this season. Same perspective would be true on the women's side - FWIW.

However, some players and coaches might be unable to stay at the same level when unable to stay in their homes, visit with family, etc.
As it is a team game, even a few impacted by the never ending road show might be too much.

I thought I saw DD sitting once, but that was it; and originally it was his ankle then he played in a game and now it is a knee? and of course hope ZW's family situation is nothing serious.

Any sense of when our missing trio is returning? I saw Wills up and about but he did not seem to be moving at full speed. I thought I saw DD sitting once, but that was it; and originally it was his ankle then he played in a game and now it is a knee? and of course hope ZW's family situation is nothing serious.

Wonderful story. This guy is a great writer. BTW, how about Kisunas? He's now had a couple very good games in recent weeks. It was around this time last year that Delaire took off from being just promising to being pretty good. If Kisunas has turned the corner into "pretty good" territory, that would be a big boost to the team's prospects.
