Gibson's was excellent, 19 base runners and a home run for a 0.704 WHIP and just three earned runs in 27 innings for a 1.00 ERA in 1967. But I'd vote for Christy Mathewson of the Giants. He didn't pitch in the World Series, however. Just before the WS, he decided he didn't like rookie Andy Coakley's straw hat (Coakley went 18-8), and Waddell injured his pitching shoulder trying to wrestle the hat off of Coakley's head.
I'd say that's at least in the conversation for best World Series performance by a starter.

Bobbbbb, you got me thinking about Sherry. My first WS as a 13 year old loading 35mm magazines for my father in a tunnel well overhang in the LA Coliseum. So I looked him up. He appeared in four games of the six game Series. Two saves, one run in 12 and 2/3. Was the series MVP.

Not THAT guy. Instead Anthont Desclarfini. (Spelling?). Typical Farhan gambit. Had bad 2020. But good “peripherals”. And a solid 2019. Fairly low risk (1 year 6 Million) with potentially quasi-high reward. Right now no 3 starter behind Gausman and Cueto. Webb 4. They need a lefty. Suarez won’t be it. He’s off to play in Korea.
