The Baseball Writers Assoc. took over the voting for each League’s MVP in 1931. To date three relief pitchers have won the award in the AL and only one reliever has won the NL award. Name them.

Going to guess:
NL: Lee Smith
AL: Dennis Eckersley, Rollie Fingers, Mariano Riviera
The only one I am sure about is Eckersley, who won in 92. I can't imagine Riviera didn't win the MVP, but I can't remember a year that he would have won it. Smith had a three year period where he was dominant for St. Louis, though I'm not sure if he won the MVP any of the years.

Willie Hernandez is the missing MVP in place of Rivera, who never won the Cy Young or MVP, but was a unanimous Hall of Famer as consolation.
