We win 89-62 as we built up an insurmountable lead through 3 quarters and then placed it on cruise control in the fourth.
The most important thing is the win and obviously, protecting our key players from injury is paramount, but I wish our subs would be more aggressive. In ends like these, we might as well have a mercy rule: we'll spot you 15 points if we end the game early, because we are just going through the motions and it's not fun to watch. We are just holding the ball until the end and not even looking for a decent shot and we can see why Ruffridge is so dangerous, despite being only 5'3". Fortunately, we were able to contain her until the fourth when the outcome was no longer in doubt.
Anyway, back to the most important things. Four players scored in double digits and four more players had at least 8 points. Our 3-point shooting was once again amazing, as we hit 15 three pointers at a 47% clip. Anna had a spectacular game (13 pts on 5/6 shooting, 6 rebounds, 3 steals); it amazed me that she only picked up her second foul late in the game, considering the aggressive defense she plays. Jump contributed with 5/7 from long range and Kiana "cooled off" to just 4/8 from long range.
My only fear is what will happen if we have a cold shooting game, especially against a better defense. I know we have other options, but one of those options is Brink and she did not play as much as one would hope. She needs to shake the foul bugaboo; we need her out on the floor as much as possible.

I don't care at all about getting out-scored in the 4th. Just doesn't matter. Team was cruising. I knew Tara felt comfortable early when she put Jerome in the game in the first quarter. No knock against Jerome, but it showed that Tara knew she could use all her bench and still win comfortably. The game was how I thought it might go. Although Mo State did hit a high percentage of threes, most came late when they did not matter. Nothing else they could do on offense really bothered our defense. Was it a perfect game? Nah. Could have rebounded better, for one thing. And missed some easy shots. But TOs were very low, everyone looked healthy and stayed that way, and given it was a S16 game, I give it an A. Save the perfect game for next round.

Not a perfect game, but a really solid one, that showcased the fact that Stanford has multiple weapons -- on both offense and defense. One things I really liked about this game was the fact that the players looked like they were really enjoying themselves, the smiles and just the way they were moving, their body language expressing it. That sort of joy brings confidence, and it's so great to watch.
And a really good thing -- everyone played, and only Anna played more than 30 minutes. (32 for her I suspect that the Oregon / Louisville will be a lot closer and the starters will have to play a lot more minutes than the Stanford starters did. That's good for us!

Lots to like from lots of players but I believe the x-factor going forward will be Jump. Against elite defenses we struggle scoring but Jump can throw up 17 points in what seemed like the blink of an eye. And she has NO FEAR in shooting the three. Contrast that with say a player like Jerome who needs to hit her first couple otherwise she will pass up future threes. Jump thinks she is going to make everything she shoots. Reminds me of Karlie Samuelson.

Agreed! As much as I'd have loved seeing her dunk for the third time this year, knowing when to hold 'em is just as important.

One of the announcers said Williams has been thinking about the WNBA draft since before the season started. I don't think she will be back on the farm next season.
I also liked how Prechtel positioned herself for rebounds and did fairly well holding onto the ball. Also liked the fight shown when an opposing player had her arms around Prechtel's neck although I don't think either player was out of line in that skirmish.

I think has to be Wilson on Evans. It will be interesting to see the defense when Mykasa Robinson is on the floor. She is a gritty player and great defender but is very reluctant to shoot. Maybe Jones sags off Robinson so we always have two bigs in the paint to prevent drives and force Louisville into midrange shots.

Maybe Jones sags off Robinson so we always have two bigs in the paint to prevent drives and force Louisville into midrange shots.

Wilson on Evans and Williams or Hull on Van Lith. Their center seems to be another plodder so Brink and Belibi should be able to outrun her. I like our chances.
