Suspect this means UCLA will make a big effort to try to get Elijah Brown to change his decision.
Hopefully he won't.
Yes, excellent point.

I know nothing about what UCLA will do - nor do I really care now that they aren't in same conference - but I don't see any reason to think Elijah Brown is deviating from his Stanford commitment. He seems locked in to Stanford.

No, this is not an "excellent point." UCLA had a different 2024 QB commit a few weeks ago.
Brown is locked in and will be an early enrollee.

Chip Kelly obviously was looking for the "next DTR", and Moore was not it. UCLA was better when Garbers played, but Garbers can't do what Kelly wants. He is not a running threat. I would hope Brown wouldn't want to be forced into a very specific role that may not ideally suit his game. Of course, a big NIL deal could be an inducement, but with all the horror stories about players transferring to UCLA and getting stiffed, I wouldn't take such an offer at face value.

It sounded like when Brown chose Stanford over UCLA it was a very close decision and I had assumed that one of the factors was he thought he had a better chance of playing early at Stanford.
If he is "locked in" and there is virtually no chance he will change his mind, great.

Elijah Brown looked cool and confident as Mater Dei manhandled SJBosco for the Div1 SoCal crown last week
https://www.ocregister.com/2023/11/24/ma...mpionship/
They get a quick Serra team for the State Championship on Dec. 9.
Brown might see a clear ramp to QB at Stanford for three years, like Hogan.
But, he needs to get on the phone and call around for O-Line.

Their O line also wasn't good this year either. Depends a lot on whether staying in SoCal is a big deal for him. If he wants to "go away to school", we are in much better shape :-).

Presumably staying in SoCal isn't a brobdingnagian deal to him, or he would have chosen UCLA in the first place. He is reportedly an excellent student so academics probably had something to do with his decision. The QB UCLA did get was not particularly highly rated and did not have a particularly impressive offer list. However he is a runner as he was recruited by the service academies. So perhaps UCLA is happy with him.

Looking for news of any Cards entering portal today.
Don't see any.
Not sure if that's good news or just because I'm not finding the news.

There will (and must) be a lot in order to make room for the incoming class and any potential transfers, but none yet. I expect the associated thread (https://thecardboard.org/board/showthread.php?tid=24635) to be pretty active soon.
Back to Class of 2024 recruiting, we're not done. 2024 ILB Bo Tate just decommitted from Baylor and is strongly expected to commit.

Looks like we flipped three-star CB Javion Randall from ODU. I think he'd be our lowest-rated commit, so this could have been a fall-back option in light of recent defections.
Someone can check my math, but does that make 26 scholie commits for 2024?
