Sort of agree with you about this year's Beavs, but I don't think they'll hit the division finish-line in first place. Re 2021 Oregon in 2021, it really doesn't take a juggernaut of any kind to dispatch Stanford this season. And don't forget that the Ducks are 4-0. They do what they need to do to win, no matter the talent level of the opponent. As the season ages, their blades will get sharper. Cristobal's a winner. And he's hungry.

Historically, Cristobal's teams have had at least one faceplant every season, including blowing a game in which they were up 24-7 and facing first and goal from the 1 yard line, and then failed to seal the win with a ten point lead and 4 minutes left in the game.  The following year, they blew a lead against Auburn with 2 minutes left, and last year, they blew leads against OSU (4 points with 2 minutes left) and Cal (failing to score at all in the second half), and then got beaten pretty handily by Iowa State.  The win against tOSU this year may finaly represent the Ducks breaking through, but history says that they will lose at least one game that they should have won.  Hopefully it is against us.

What Cristobal is, is a recruiting juggernaut at Oregon, with recruiting classes ranking in the top-15 of the country (and usually the top of the Pac-12) every year he's been head coach.  By sheer recruiting talent alone, Oregon ought to be far and away the best team in the Pac-12.  Usually, but not always (*cough* USC *cough*) recruiting prowess translates to on the field success, and Oregon fans have good reason to be hopeful.  But recruiting is only one of the coach's jobs, and I am not yet sold that Cristobal can optimize how his recruiting talent translates to on the field success.  He's certainly better than a parade of USC coaches since Carroll, but is he Chip Kelley?  TBD.

You mean Chip "Best Years Behind Him" Kelley? When the Chipper wins a Rose Bowl at UCLA I'll start paying attention. Cristobal got one after his second full year as HC in Eugene. Guy's bound to be the Pete Carroll of Oregon.

Cristobal played his college ball at Miami, if Miami continues to struggle maybe Cristobal becomes the head coach there, if he stays with the duckies I do not see Stanford winning the north more than once every five plus years.

In four years at Oregon, Chip Kelly went to four BCS games, including the National Championship game his second year in the program, so color me nonplussed that Cristobal went to the Rose Bowl in his second year at Oregon.

In four years as head coach, Kelly had two Rose Bowls, one Fiesta Bowl, and one National Championship.
In three years as head coach, Kelly has one Rose Bowl, one fluke Fiesta Bowl (remember that Washington won the PAC-12 north, but didn’t play in the championship due to COVID; Oregon ended the regular season 3-2, in third place in the North, and wound up 4-3 overall), and one… Redbox Bowl.

I’ll take Kelly’s record at Oregon over Cristibals, thank you very much.
Kelly’s best may indeed have passed him by, though he probably has UCLA in a good position to win the South, but you continue to overvalue potential over accomplishment.

Great recruiter. He just needs to stay out of the way of his 400 m relay team and the defensive freaks like Sewell and Tibs.

Maybe there’s a COVID outbreak and we win by forfeit.  But here on planet earth, we struggle to score 21 points and the Ducks call off the dogs when they get to 45.

BC

Glad I get to laugh at myself over this one.  Now to be fair, we were struggling to get beyond 17 points before that last drive, and we got a short field in OT.  But the Ducks getting to 45 looks funny in retrospect.

I think the points algorithm is not working.   People who picked Stanford to lose should be behind all that picked us to win.

I think someone put the scores in backwards.  Should be fixed now:

Please see Rule #5:

1. Each entry that does not nail the score but correctly predicts either Stanford's or the opponents score gets a 3 point bonus.

I didn't make the rules, I just enforce em :)
