I’m in Canada, watching SportsCentre (sic).  I LOL’d at the fact that Canada is celebrating clinching their ticket to Qatar by beating Jamaica in sub-zero temperature.

They’ll be in for a rude awakening playing in 110 degree weather in Qatar.

The stadiums were designed to work in conjunction with a new air conditioning technology that theoretically will keep temperatures at an optimal level and trap the recycled cold air inside the stadium at field level and in the stands. High velocity cold air will strategically be pumped at players on the field and each spectator seat is outfitted with its own air diffuser. They also have some technologically which is supposed to keep the field itself from heating up regardless of the outside temperature. Whether it all works remains to be seen but there is a plan. It won't just be Canadians suffering if it doesn't work.

Many parts of Canada are hot and humid in the summer. Not Florida miserable, but 85 degrees and 85% humidity in the prairies is common. I assume Qatar is dry.

The entire global football calendar has been changed to accommodate a Winter World Cup in Doha, Qatar - Dec 2022

Historical highs in December in Doha range between 70 to 80F  while lows range between 55 and 65F. Players and fans should be generally OK as long as there is no weird weather anomaly.

He came in late against Mexico on Thursday also. Considering his back-to-back ACL tears he's doing pretty well to be in the mix for a spot on the World Cup roster.
