He's the Todd Shell of the NBA, all right. Both his playing time and the number of games he plays has declined three years in a row, though his per-36-minutes numbers are still strong. 

Only positive I can really say is that Kuminga had the worst disparity on the team between offensive rating (103) and defensive rating (115), a -12. Buddy's wasn't much better at 109 and 114 respectively. Second worst among the rotation players was Draymond (-11), then Melton (-7), then Buddy. I think the trade was just intended to dump Hield's salary for next year in return for an expiring contract.  I doubt there's much confidence that Porzingis will help the team a lot.  The Warriors are already out of the running for this year because of Butler's ACL.  Next year, they'll owe ~150mm to an ancient core (Curry, Butler, Green).  Though they'll have a couple of young role players who they got for decent value in the draft (Moody, Podz), they'll have no stars anywhere near their prime.  I don't see Melton choosing to return to that roster for cheap.  The "two timeline" thing didn't work out, and it's time to rebuild.  Fortunately, the Warriors have all their own first round picks except for one top-20 protected pick in 2030, so the rebuild is feasible.

A family friend is a D3 head basketball coach, and he says that Kuminga has no basketball instincts except for around the basket scoring. Physical talent yes, mediocre shooter, plays defense when he feels like it. And Podziemski is exactly what his 19th overall pick suggests...a really good sixth man. He does well with backups, not so well with starters. Possibly the worst athlete in the NBA. I can see both why the Warriors wanted to trade the two of them and why the Bucks didn't want either of them.

If I were Dunleavy, I'd start from scratch. I'd get rid of everybody, build through the draft.

At this point, I'd rather have 33 year old Anthony Davis than 37 year old Butler and the conditional first round choice. I don't think Butler is going to come back at full strength anytime before the playoffs. He has a torn ACL. Average NBA return to play post-ACL tear is 372.5 days, and Butler is, as noted, going to be 37 in a few months. Here's the steps:

1. Draymond has already rejected the player option. A multi-year contract would free up $11 million or so. 
2. Get Washington to accept Butler for Davis and draft capital, an unprotected first and a first swap.
3. Get LeBron to play for the full mid-level player exception of $15.049. Fallback is a sign-and-trade (seeya later, Moses Moody and maybe Will Richard) that takes it to $23 million? 

In any event, it will take a full-court press with Curry, Draymond, Davis, Kerr, Dr. Celebrini...one last shot at the title, his last shot to play with Curry.
