The W's have won five straight, good victory last night after being down 17. They gave up less than 100 again, first time all season they've given up less than 100 two games in a row. Their last five games, they've given up an average of 100 exactly, best in the NBA in that time span. Maybe they're starting to get it. And they've played six games in eight days...pretty darned good.

Warriors are still #5 in the west, one game behind the suns, one game ahead of the Mavericks, 1 1/2 games out of the play in round, and four games out of the playoffs altogether.

They play 8 of their next 10 on the road (at least the two toughest, Suns and Bucks are at home). Steph returns on Sunday vs. the Lakers at the Forum, hopefully Wiggins is right behind him.

My revised Warriors record prediction after impressive 5-0 home stand: 44-38

I now have them going 10-8 in final 18, 4-7 on road and 6-1 at home. This is a six game swing from what I thought exactly a week ago, when my guess was 38-44 - Haha! It unusual that there can be so much uncertainty this late in a season, but here we are.  

As noted, Tim Kawakami thinks 9-9 is the most realistic guess. I think you have to account for SOME improvement on the road with the defense they have displayed of late.  I just don't think it all of a sudden goes away when they leave home now. You might say 4-7 doesn't seem like it accounts for anything good, but the W's road win percentage to date is .233. I'm giving them .363, so just a little boost.  

Does anyone see them doing better than 9-9/10-8 over final 18? Or maybe you see them doing worse?  I'm curious to know what others are making of the W's. It's really hard to quantify with how the defense have improved, and then accounting for the return of Curry, Wiggins and GP2.

I don't think they get GP2 back before the playoffs. I think Wiggs will take a minimum of two games to re-acclimate, he's missed six games. Who knows when he returns? I wonder about the family issue. In Wiggs' last game on Feb. 13 against the Wizards, he scored 29 points, had 7 rebounds, 4 assists, no turnovers and just two personal fouls. Doesn't appear to have been too troubled. We get Steph tomorrow.

I think 10-8 is the right number if they get both Steph and Wiggins back AND they don't suffer any more injuries.

As a Warriors fan, I'm pissed they let the Lakers get Jarred Vanderbilt. He's the guy I most wanted as a trade acquisition. It sucks to be beaten by him. And it's now happened to the Warriors twice in a week, with Vanderbilt a +41 against the Warriors over two games. 

Just unreal that Utah wouldn't trade him to the Warriors for Wiseman, or they would but Bob Myers prefers Gary Payton II over Vanderbilt. I like GP2, but not over Vanderbilt. Sigh...

I could see a team being great on offense at home and struggling on the road, but defense is suppose to be what drives winning on road. Can you even imagine how frustrated the W's coaches, players, staff, and front office is about this, and that they have no clue why this is the case or how to solve it?

I'd be interested in seeing the road/home splits in two areas: fouls and turnovers. My sense is that the Warriors' collective proclivity to reach and not take the extra step on defense really comes home to roost when the referees already have a slight proclivity to support the home team with their calls.

Also, it is harder for a team to maintain defensive intensity when they are tired (eg from traveling), particularly if they are one of the older teams in the league.

Has any game this season more epitomized the Warriors' road woes than the 3/8 OKC result?  Curry goes for 40, on 10-16 from 3, the W's shoot over 50% FG and 40% from 3, but give up 137 (!!!) and lose by 9. I saw the final score without knowing it during the game, and was frankly shocked. The W's were out rebounded by 11, and Draymond Green had ONE board in 33 minutes?!?!?!

There are no answers.

That game was just sad. The rebounding was beyond awful. Kuminga, 6'8" and a great athlete had 3 rebounds in 27 minutes. If Curry and Divincenzo are your leading rebounders with 8...and both are guards...you're in serious trouble.

Warriors match up well against the Grizzlies. They're 2-0 with a 14 point win and a 2 point win over the Grizzlies this season. In the 14 point win, the Warriors did not have Curry. In the 2 point win, both Looney and Thompson had substandard nights. interestingly, Wiggins didn't play in either game.

The only way that makes sense is if gamblers believe the recent, and very public, Warriors/Grizzlies spats will give the Warriors motivation and focus to play in Memphis like they do at home where they've beaten the Grizzlies twice.  It's a game worth watching.  A high profile road game says a lot about who a team will be in the play-offs.  It will say much more than how they play in lower profile home games.  I'll be watching!

Fourth quarter was all Memphis and the Warriors looked old and couldn't match the Grizzlies energy in the final frame.  They looked slow and gave plenty of cause for Brooks to yap - but that's OK and his team earned it.  For the Warriors turnovers (including four possessions in a row!), reach defense, over reliance on 3s, and slow defensive rotations that left open threes doomed them to play from behind most of the game.  If you were hoping, like me, that the team would catch fire again in the play-offs this game should give you pause.
