Our star recruit is a combo guard, right? Is he expected to play the point? Would think Ingram and Spencer J are the starting 3 and 4.

Great news for the team. And I think it's the smart move for Harrison--he has room to improve his play and his draft stock.
Also, no more excuses now for Haase. Tourney or bust. (Yeah, I know Muir will never fire him. But it should be Tourney or bust this year)

Business types and Stanford basketball fans are familiar with the Gartner hype cycle - the Peak of Inflated Expectations followed by the Trough of Disillusionment. I have no reason to believe that we are not going there again in 2022-2023.

The season starts unevenly against inferior out of conference opponents. Then there is a string of wins. There's a game against a ranked opponent where we look surprisingly strong, lead by 2 at halftime and ultimately lose by 10 points, but it's a moral victory. More wins follow. We look decent in conference play, pull off a few upsets. You can start to see a path to where we might be a bubble team. By the time the middle of February rolls around we're in complete disarray, losing to bottom-dwellers and seemingly incapable of putting any kind of coherent offense on the floor. Talk of NIT fades as we crumble and make an early exit in the Pac 12 tourney.
Repeat.

Tough crowd. If Ingram goes pro, it’s because he doesn’t want to play for Hasse. When he decides to stay, it’s too bad because Hasse might have a good year , and more importantly Stanford might have a good year, and that’s too bad because Hasse might stay as coach. I suspect that neither Ingram’s decision to enter the draft nor his decision to come out and play another year had much to do with Hasse….it had to do with where Ingraham thought he would be drafted this year vs. next year.
It does suggest that this very talented and good player believes he can grow his game on a Hasse coached team. It is good news for Stanford ..and I believe for Ingram.

This is the train I'm on. The 3 top built-in excuses are no longer valid.
1. "We just need to get older" is no longer valid - we are now older. 6 of our 9 rotators will be juniors/seniors (compare that to just 3 last season), and the 7th is our best player. Speaking of...
2. "Our star players keep leaving too early" is no longer valid - our star player came back.
3. "We can't get any transfers" is no longer valid - we got one and he'll be a starter. (Whether we can do that consistently is a more legitimate discussion, though, and it's pretty clear we can't bring in 3+ every year like many others do.)
Put up or shut up time.

Given the encouraging news of Ingram's return, I am curious what people see as our starting lineup last year, and who the first two off the bench will be.

All else being equal, I would rather win with Haase than take chances with a new hire. The issue is that I a not sure we can with Haase, but given that he is our coach now, I might have well (naively) root for the team to win.
Im glad Ingram is back, and I am glad we got a promising transfer. I hope that this time is different and that we finally have the ingredients for a deep March run.
