The odd thing is that Moore did not make the All-Conference team which Overn did. I guess there are better upperclass catchers in the Pac than outfielders.
Coach of the Year - Esquer
This one surprised me. These awards usually go to the coach of the most improved team, and Stanford was too good last year to be most improved. A few weeks ago it seemed destined to go to Bloomquist of ASU but they faltered down the stretch. I then thought Kelly of UW might get it as they were finishing hot - but maybe dropping 2 of 3 to cal last weekend doomed him. Another good candidate would be Canham at OSU who kept his team together after a rough start to finish second in the Pac ... though they were 5 games behind Stanford.
The curious item I saw was Tommy Troy on the All-Defensive team. It's a nice honor considering he also led the conference in batting average. And I also appreciated that he was nominally playing out of position as he has mostly been a middle infielder - though the story was that he was moved to 3B because he had developed some yips throwing from 2B. Still, he had some issues making the throw to first and finished with 6 errors - that's a lot for a non-shortstop on an all-defensive team.
Carter Graham on the All-Defensive team was a nice choice. He seems to have a bit of a reputation as a big, slow power hitter but he made some really nice snags this year and finished in the top 20 in fielding percentage ... and even went 5-6 in stolen bases (on the one time he got caught there was a replay appeal that seemed to show he was safe, though the camera angle didn't make that definitive).

Way too many on the list. 32 all conference plus the honorable mention. All of Stanford's 8 regular field players made at least HM. I'm a big "homer" but that's too much for me.

So Uber or Lopez gets the start tomorrow with Meier and Dugan out of the pen? I suppose a win over Oregon is of marginal value for NCAA seeding purposes but I don't think I'd want to pitch anyone who we could need on Friday or Saturday.

So if I understand the rules of the conference tournament correctly, Stanford will be through to the semifinals even with a loss against the Ducks.
But the Ducks need to win because either Oregon State or ASU will finish 1-1 in Pool B and they each have a better seed than the Ducks, and thus would have the tie-breaker for 1-1 teams trying to get the Wildcard spot.

The other guy who stymied Stanford was their Saturday starter Mercado (complete game, 1 run). After that game he had his struggles. He pitched to four batters yesterday.
There two starters from last week who pitched pretty well versus Utah are Grabmann and Spoljaric. I am guessing we see Grabmann, a frosh righty with 9 starts and a 3.84 ERA.

Curious. That was certainly not the intent of my post. Rather, Oregon has similar pitching depth issues to Stanford.

Oregon is #8 at 6.62.
In their last three conference series Oregon has given up 7, 5, 11 (SC); 14, 18, 11 (UW); 12, 1, 3 (Utah).
Over that same spell, Stanford has given up 6, 11, 4 (ASU); 8, 2, 21 (UA); 6, 4, 5 (WSU).
Oregon did give up a lot fewer runs to Cal at the conference tournament (2 vs 10), but for the most part the pitchers involved in both of those games won't be playing tonight.
Oregon does have a good offense. Generally #3 in most offensive categories behind Arizona and Stanford.
I expect a high scoring game.

Thanks for the additional info. Because their guy going tonight has a sub 4 ERA (and apparently their other guy available has been solid), I assumed they had a couple guys behind their two studs who could be trouble. I don't think Stanford has a third - and obviously a fourth - starter that I would put any trust into. Then again, to your point, their team has been giving up runs so hopefully we can put up a ton ourselves as we'll certainly need them.
