I'd guess so, but all the reports on Garrett have stated there are other finalists besides himself and Taylor. So there may be other people. That said some of the recruiting moves lead me to believe someone's all-but-signed.
Hope that's the case, rather than a last second change of mind on a done deal.

Feldman says there were three finalists: https://twitter.com/BruceFeldmanCFB/stat...9525650433
Garrett and Taylor make two, meaning there's a mystery third finalist.

Any hope for Aranda at this point? Taylor would be pretty good, I think. Hoping we're not settling on Bloomgren.
Free Phogge!!!! And no, crimson doesn't refer to the Tide.

I thought we were supposed to have a new coach announced by the end of today (Thursday, 12/8). It looks like Stanford might have fumbled the ball, again.
Put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip.

There are things that could push back the announcement. Don't both parties have to agree on a contract, if not every detail at least in principle. Maybe more negotiating to do.

Already concocting a parallel world where the third candidate is Andrew Luck, who assembles a killer staff, builds back a winning program, and soaks in all the fan love he deserves. A guy can dream.

Or it could be the coach selected has a playoff game coming up this weekend and the announcement will be made after the weekend or is prepping for a bowl game and working on a transition for is current team.
After Stanford interview, Jason Garrett says he’ll stay at NBC (msn.com)

Last night at this hour, I was like “weird that there hasn’t been much leaking about the coaching search”
Maybe somebody was listening.

Is it permissible on the board to use the term "bleepshow"? Why would you bring Garrett on campus in such a public manner if you weren't planning on offering him the job? Makes me think Muir delusionally thought that Garrett was going to say yes to something like, "we're going to offer you not enough $ to buy a 3 bedroom house in Professorville." What if you're Tara VanDerveer? You're probably thinking "I can wait for Muir to leave so that he doesn't screw up the best planned coach transition in history."

It’s been reported that Muir brought multiple people (three, though I think only two are known) on campus. Obviously not all of them were going to go home happy.
BC
Also, this happened to Garrett last year, for the Duke job.

I'm told that the third person was Brent Brennan. He's out already.

It is also possible Garret said no when we couldn't give him the answer he needed to hear on the portal problem. Has anyone seen anything that makes them positive our attitude on the portal will change? Only thing I have seen is sort of "Maybe" and "we are working on it" kind of stuff.

I'm more interested in finding the right person than I am doing it by some arbitrary date.
Obviously the sooner the better though.

IF indeed the selection is Troy Taylor I assume that the announcement will come sometime after this evenings FCS Quarterfinal game against Incarnate Word (at 7:30 pm on espn+ today/Friday).

Certainly is possible, which is why -- not to put too melodramatic a spin on this -- it strikes me as a bit classless to do this.

It doesn’t sit well with me either. My guess is we low-balled him and weren’t bluffing because we’re cheapskates, and it didn’t sit well with him that because news of his candidacy/campus visit got out (which he may or may not have been irritated by) the upshot of him not getting the job because terms couldn’t be agreed was that he would be perceived as losing out to a freaking FCS coach. As a matter of professional pride/reputation management maybe he couldn’t abide that and needed to protect his reputation. So while I am heartsick and annoyed (livid?) about this humiliating turn of events for Stanford, I think it quite possible it happened because Stanford couldn’t pull the trigger on big boy football. If so, I blame Stanford more than Garrett. Sad episode.
