I mean, it sounds like they funded the positions for more mental health professionals. I’d assume that MTL is not the hiring manager (or even Drell, for that matter).  There’s a nationwide shortage of mental health professionals, so the fact that we have had trouble filling the position is not surprising, and probably not really MTL’s fault.

Yes, the university should raise salaries for mental health professionals to attract new talent.  However, implementation is not the President's role.  Nor is it the Provost's role.  It's the hiring manager's job.  And if the hiring manager isn't hiring, it is the hiring manager's line manager's job to figure out what the problem is, and, if the problem is lack of applicants at the proposed salary, they need to seek an exception from the salary structure and an increase in budget to get the positions filled.  But all of that should be happening several levels below the President.  If the University President is involved in figuring out hiring issues, you have a bigger problem in your organization.

I wanted at least the two conference wins over Cal this season.   I thought if Stanford had only those two wins Muir would still realize a change is required, and at least the team would sweep Cal.   That didn't happen.   :(

Maybe this loss to Cal can accelerate that much needed coaching change process.
