Game over. 1 pt game with 10:30 to go, then just an ugly and frustrating implosion from there. Haase making substitutions that defied logic (as usual). I hated some of those lineups. Inexplicably playing Keefe a bunch. (Finally saw the light and subs 3 guys at once.) Offense got out of sync and guys started doing what they're not capable of and shouldn't do: e.g., MOC dribbles into lane and pulls up for contested jumper from the elbow with 14 secs on shot clock (noo! not his game!). Branden Angel, who I love, trying to take guys off the dribble and losing the ball. Spencer Jones, who I also love, throwing up contested 3s and grabbing offensive rebounds and rushing shots, rather than resetting offense. Keefe throwing ball away. Haase apparently doesn't believe in timeouts to settle the offense. Never has for 7 ugly seasons. This should be a tarmac firing.

Yep, all the usual Haaseketball tendencies were on display.
Hopefully this is the end.

Yep, those who were worried that a superb tourney performance might save Haase's job needn't any more.
Now the only question is whether Muir will pull the trigger.

Though I know it's totally possible, maybe even 50/50 (or more?) given it's Muir, I really can't fathom Haase keeping his job. 112-109 overall and 59-72 in conference play over seven seasons. No NCAA tournament appearances of course. He has recruited well, but I think that cuts against him because the team has indisputably had talent. There's no "systemic issue" here that has kept them from making the NCAA tournament.
The idea that we should keep him because "we can't get someone better" is crazy to me. We already have a bad coach. This job will be attractive to a good mid-major coach wanting to jump or a young assistant (just because we've failed with that before, like with Haase, doesn't mean they're all going to coach at that level). Shaw left behind a program in tatters, but there is talent on this roster, a bunch of guys coming back and some really good recruits coming in.

Kind of a jerky thing to say about the guy you were adamant needed to replace the previous, indisputably more successful coach.
1. This has nothing to do with Dawkins. I thought Haase was a good hire when he came in, but it didn't work out as anyone would have hoped
2. I think Haase shouldn't have been the coach at all this season
3. I'm sick and tired of MediocrityAtMaples, so yeah it might be jerky but it's a reflection of the depth of my frustration with this program and more broadly with Muir

"The convivial conclave for Cardinal conversations", right guys?
In 1938 Neville Chamberlain declared "Peace in our time", Superman first appeared in Action Comics, Seabiscuit beat War Admiral ....... and C.a.l last won the Rose Bowl.

We lose Spencer Jones who has been by far the best scorer, but that's it. We add Carlyle and the pro's 6'8" son, who is a Mickey D, and the red shirting 4 star. If Haase said to Muir, I've got some great juniors (Angel, Murrell, McConnell) and sophs (Reynaud, Silva, Ingram), two pretty good grad players (Jones, Keefe) and a couple promising frosh (Agarwal, Moss) so give me one more year and I'll leave if we don't make the tournament, I can see Muir saying ok. I think Muir says it's over only if the players ask Muir to let him go.

Wow. Just wow. I can't f-ing believe it. I'm going to try not to overreact in the moment, but I'm a season ticket holder of many seasons and this may finally be it for me.

Probably for the best as this should be the mail in Muir’s coffin. Hire a new AD and let that person hire for MBB. It would be unfortunate to hire a new AD immediately after hiring coaches for MBB *and* football.
When I registered here in 2014, TrumpCard seemed like an apolitical user ID...

Back to the game. Just too many small mistakes and the subs mostly got trucked. It does make the subbing issues glaringly obvious.
And to the other topic. I also have no idea how you explain retaining Haase again.

Trumpcard has explained previously that he chose his handle in reference to the card game and long before a terrible guy became President

No, it won't, Trump.

It hasn't been about the roster for the last several years. Haase is a great recruiter - maybe our best in the "modern era." It's all about what happens afterwards that has delivered the poor results of the last seven years.

Maybe Hasse will be smart enough to hire a wiz-bang assistant coach(s) that can inject some much needed expertise into this program and get it back on a winning track. Or maybe that was a condition upon his not losing his job.
Put a glide in your stride and a dip in your hip.
