I agree with your assessment. But an OSU/Michigan rematch in the semis would have been hard to sell. The way it is now, the rematch only happens if Ohio State stuns the Bulldogs. And frankly, I don't think that is going to happen. Stroud will probably be scrambling for his life as the Georgia front seven comes bearing down on him. Denying Georgia a 2nd consecutive national championship will be tough. The only team that can do it is probably Michigan; and the CFP wanted that match-up in the NC game, so they designed the pairing to achieve that.
GA v. MI would certainly be a great match-up. The best of the SEC v. the best of the B10. Since those conferences are quickly moving towards “The Big 2” status, we might as well get comfortable with the idea of seeing them face off for the title every year.
