After all these years, I am finally going to go to the game @ Cal. I've never been. Advice on what kind of ticket to buy and where to sit?

For a POSSIBLE comparison, compare this map that maybe gets reports from Stanford Police. At least, it shows 3 Vehicle Break-in/Theft on the Stanford campus in the last month. But I'm not 100% sure that it gets all their reports. (For instance, these could be reports from Los Altos police of crimes reported to it that took place on Stanford campus.)
Note that neither of these map sites get statistics from all jurisdiction.
The 2nd map shows such reports in Fremont, but none at the Fremont Bart Station.

I find that the small group of us that meet at Maples at the half gives info from others, and gives me a chance to process & evaluate the first half.

I'm planning to go and would be interested in meeting up in GA to sit together. My first trip there as well. Might also grab a Top Dog before the game rather than eating concession stand food.
Cheers,
Pete F.

I don't know where Stanford fans usually sit at Haas (my first trip too). However, it looks like the visitors bench is in front of section 1 so the closest GA section would be 28, the corner section that still looks like it has pretty good views. The band is apparently behind that basket so you would be behind the band if you wanted GA behind the basket and the students sit behind the other basket. I just got a reserved seat in section 1 behind the Stanford bench so that I don't have to worry about where to sit. Hopefully the weather is decent and I can enjoy some record stores and food before the game.
Cheers,
Pete F.

Cal season ticket holder here. (don't boo, I didn't get admitted to Cal, so wore Stanford gear for a while after I was rejected)
Yes, Section 1 is behind the Stanford bench. Any row that begins with a "letter" instead of a #, is a reserved chairback.
Chairbacks are sections 1,2,3 & 15,16 & 17. 17 would be across from the Stanford bench, but it's usually filled in the lower section.
The band sits in section 23. Keep in mind school is out, so there have only be 15 or so band members. However, being a Stanford game, alumni band members usually show up so I'd except 20 to 30?
Another option might be to get a GA ticket, then sit in the student section down by the court in front of sections 15, 16 & 17. When school is out, they "usually" let anyone sit down there. But I' don't know what will happen if you show up in Stanford gear. Keep in mind, there may also be screaming kids sitting there.
Buying a GA ticket then moving to a chairback is usually easy for non-Stanford games. Not sure how it will be this time. Definitely avoid sections 2 & 3 and sit up in the higher rows if chairback is your priority. Season ticket holders are usually in J and below in the chairback sections.
