I came across this video.  It is by a coach who coaches youth basketball.  For those of us who never played, I think it is interesting to see how even the most basic plays get laid out.  At the NCAA level the offenses are mostly more sophisticated, I understand.

The fourth offense he presents is the triangle, which Tara ran for years.

The fifth would be an offensive play that I think I have seen us use to try get Jump open by having her run corner to corner past two bigs, each screening.

I'd love it if the rest of you who are familiar with similar videos or diagrams would chip in with those that show plays that we once used or might still use.  I just enjoy trying to understand the tactics at a granular level.

I found this article very helpful in understanding the Flow offense which we adopted at the start of the year, ostensibly because it was much easier for our very young perimeter players to learn, as opposed to the Princeton which takes a year of more of drills.  We were told at a chalk talk, however, that a new offense was installed after the USC loss.  Whether it was a completely new offense or just a few new wrinkles or plays I am not sure.  Complicating things, many Princeton elements remain--see all of Jump's back door cuts, for example.  So I would be hard pressed to say what our offense really "is" right now.  That might be a good thing if opponents can't figure it out either, but whatever it is, I hope it works well tonight.

The goal of Half Court Flow offense is to not let the defense rest & regroup following transition. We are attacking the defense in transition and then immediately flowing into our Flow concepts without allowing the defense to have that "Set it Up" recovery time.

Such an offense plays to our strength on offense which is depth and helps us wear the defense down over the course of the game.  However, it is easy to see when the "flow" is not working.  We want lots of transition points, and when we don't get them, we want to keep the players and the ball in motion to keep the defense off balance.  But all those times our players are static and passing the ball around the perimeter it seems like the "flow" has failed and the defense is entrenched.

So what offense will we see tonight?  Inquiring minds want to know.
