I love Brink's upside and pro potential but I'm taking Caitlin Clark with the top pick in the WNBA for next year's class. She is so fun to watch and her supporting cast is so much less than South Carolina but she just elevates her teammates to another level and they end up playing with so much confidence as a result. it's incredible. Iowa has been ahead nearly the whole game. I hope they hold on the last 5 minutes.

Iowa vs SC -- going nuts watching the last minute of this game. Now, 13.5 sec to go, Iowa up 4. IMO, Clark has shown why she's POY of year, totally. What a game.

I would be shocked if Clark is not the #1 pick next year. She has range, she can penetrate, she has excellent vision, and she makes the players around her better.

Pretty ironic that in a game where South Carolina had something like a 25-5 offensive rebounding advantage, it was an offensive rebound by Iowa with 14 seconds left that pretty much sealed the deal.

Clark fantastic, totally fantastic, on the court, but also in another way -- how she connects with the people in stands. More so than any other player I've seen, the way she makes a point of it.

That was nuts. Iowa is a solid team with one good post and a few shooters but with one crazy good guard who can just carry them. Never quite seen a team that dominated by one player that can win like that. I feel bad for SC. They had the better team. Iowa had the best player. Iowa could not rebound at all but still won.

Ionescu was not as dominant as Clark and had a more talented supporting cast. Plus Oregon never got to play their NCAA tournament the year they might have won it so we will never know if they were as good as they were cracked up to be. Oregon had multiple WNBA players on that team. Who else on Iowa will play in the WNBA? Czinano is good but I don't think WNBA good. Stewart was on UConn teams filled with talent. Not at all the same. The lack of supporting cast is what distinguishes Iowa.

On the Bird-Taurasi show, Lisa Leslie said that Stanford was in her final five and she's always wondered what it would have been like to be coached by Tara before her Olympic experience. Bird said that she also had wondered about having gone to Stanford.

Ionescu was different, and the fact that her senior year was cut short doesn't diminish how dominant she was as a player. I'm not necessarily saying she was better than Clark, but I think it is easy to devalue how dominant and versatile Ionesco was, in our search for superlatives for Clark.

Ionescu was a great player but she averaged 18 ppg for her career and about that as a senior. Clark averages 27 for her career so far. Both are excellent passers. I don't think it makes much sense to compare them now. Clark is pretty singular the way she takes a nice team and turns them into title contenders. Could Ionescu do that? Maybe but we will never know so...

Did we watch the same game? I would not describe Iowa as Caitlin Clark + a lack of supporting cast. To my eye, the rest of the team worked incredibly well to enable what Clark did, and their defense on SC was just as crucial as Clark’s offensive brilliance. The passing from everyone on the team was very precise, and Czinano’s footwork around the basket was unreal. Plus there were several other shooters who were able to hit key shots aside from Clark. I think Iowa is quite well coached, and the team as a whole plays very well together, and they also happen to have a generational talent in Clark who helped carry them to the title game.

I agree. Iowa is more than Clark plus the "whoever they are" group. But she is the one who makes it all work, and she has the supporting cast that she needs to make it work. She's a nearly unique superstar who not only is a superstar herself, but also a player who makes everyone else on the floor with her better than they would be were she not there.
