FWIW, I believe Creme designates as the aq whoever would win the Conference regular season title if play stopped today. Today, that's Colorado. And I believe he does that precisely because he's doing a "moment in time" capture, not a prediction of the future (since obviously the aq is ultimately the tournament champion). So it's all consistent, at least, with a view to assessing the state of the world at this moment.

Here's a nice article about Geno Auriemma reaching 1200 wins.

The following quote seems to hint he may retire soon. Single digits?!

Quote:But he was again cryptic when asked how long he might continue to coach, saying he won't be adding hundreds of more wins, but "more along the line of single digits" and that there isn't any number or "whale" that he's chasing.
"I could probably say, with a great deal of certainty, that I'll never be No. 1 in wins, I don't think that will happen," he said. "And I'm still going to enjoy my wine and I'm going to sleep good tonight."

I kinda thought Geno was showing signs of slowing down. If he were to retire at then end of this season, there will likely be transfers to fatten teams elsewhere.
WBB may miss him.

He is lying. Just as his buddy Doug Bruno was when he said Geno didn't care about his number of wins and that Tara had to hit 1203 to have any relevance.
If Geno didn't care about hitting 1200, why was I reading about it everywhere every time I went online?

Oregon State is shooting lights-out @ Colorado today, and leads 44-24 at the half. If they can continue to do this for a second half, then we will be playing WSU for sole lead in the Pac 12.

Nebraska comes back from down 14 in the 4th quarter to beat Iowa. Clark scoreless in the final period. We have a chance to move up it we take care of business today!

The AP #2 in the polls curse strikes again -- Nebraska just beat Iowa 82-79 -- with Clark having 31 points. She'll almost certainly get the record her next game, at home.
And here in the Pac-12, yes, OSU is shooting lights out, hitting 3s from all over. That's our penultimate game in the Pac-12 regular season, and right now, they are in 2nd place, tied with Colorado but with the tiebreaker over the Buffs. If Stanford wins today, we stay in 1st all alone. If we lose, it's a 3 way tie for 1st, with having to go to the next tiebreaker down since OSU has it over Colorado, Stanford over OSU, Colorado over Stanford. That game in Corvallis is going to be critical. Glad we're going to be there for it!

Clark is human. She missed two technical FTs at the end of the 3Q. (Or was it beginning of 4Q?). After that her shots were all short. I suspect 32 minutes of evading double-teams took something out of her legs in the 4Q.
Sadly Iowa doesn't seem to have too much of a supporting cast around Clark. Nebraska was tough, never gave up, and was playing in front of an immense sellout crowd at home.

Perhaps Clark thought the game was in hand with a 14 point 4th quarter lead and thought that she'll take it easy with the scoring to break the record at home.
It just seems too odd for her to go scoreless a whole quarter.

Agree on surprise it's a blowout, though I thought that it was likely that OSU would win this one. They've been hot lately, since their loss to us in the Tara 1203 game. Wow, can pre-season polls get things wrong. OSU was picked to finish 10/9 in the pre-season media/coaches polls.
What an end of game, OSU 65, Colorado 59 -- so didn't end as a blowout at all. But still, a win for OSU, and if the Cand can beat WSU, we have 1st place back all to ourselves. OSU and Colorado will be tied for 2nd, with OSU with the tiebreaker. These upcoming last games in the conference season are going to be wild. What a last season for the Pac-12.

#2 Iowa lost to Nebraska
#3 NC St lost to Va Tech
#4 Colorado lost to Oregon St
Should put the Cardinal up to #3 behind South Carolina and Ohio State. FWIW, I think we're better than Ohio State. On the other hand, nobody is touching South Carolina this year. I think they'll be an undefeated national champion.

Stanford only plays once in the next 12 days. A good chance to rest (and study for midterms).

Tennessee is playing South Carolina close. Was tied 48-48 going into the fourth quarter.
But in the 4th, the South Carolina defense was just suffocating, and Tennessee looked worn down. South Carolina did not play pretty offense, but that defense along with its rebounding proved too much in the end. Tennessee is going to have as many turnovers as points in the 4th. In the fourth quarter South Carolina 18 Tennessee 7.
