Watched the Giants vs. Red Sox tonight. I noticed that the Red Sox had retired a lot of numbers (10). I looked it up, it was about average.

Like Gary Carter, this player had a brief stint with the Giants but is most known for his career on another team. He's a five-time all-star, two-time world champion, won two silver sluggers and was the AL RBI leader once (not in 1994).

Like some teams, I don’t think the Twins acknowledge the greats from the club prior to its relocation (the A’s are in that group). Therefore, I would guess Walter Johnson.
Note: Like Christy Mathewson, I don’t believe Johnson ever had a number on his jersey. Of course, that didn’t stop SF from honoring Mathewson with a retirement disk.

I was going to guess someone like Griffey Jr., Frank Thomas, McGriff, or Puckett, but I don't think any of them played for the Giants.
That he's a two-time World Series winner could mean he played for the Twins, Blue Jays, or Yankees. But I'm not sure who that would be.

GREAT question. I was stumped, looked it up. Completely forgot he played for the Giants. And he had his highest career OPS (.884) of any team with the Giants.

You are correct. Cobb did not wear a jersey with a number. The Tigers honored him by including him along with the numbers of other retired players.

I've been to Comerica ballpark and I've seen various exhibits listing their exploits, but I don't recall seeing it on the wall like the other players...but I didn't pay attention, tbh.
