They may try for the Duke head coach who played for Pat Summitt and won a national championship.

Is firing coaches before their contracts are up a big reason why so many athletic departments are in the red? Tennessee continued to offer her a contract extension after last three years... and now they are on the hook for $2.2 million. Why isn't the AD being looked at as well for making such a dubious decision the last three years that is going to cost the department millions?

I see this happening so much in collegiate athletics. Or is this just an isolated incident, where universities have to pay out coaches it fires?

Tennessee hires Marshall's Kim Caldwell as new coach

Tennessee hired Marshall coach Kim Caldwell on Sunday, going outside the Lady Vols family for the first time since the late Pat Summitt stepped down in 2012.

Caldwell replaces Kellie Harper, who was fired last week after five seasons coaching at her alma mater. Caldwell will be introduced at a news conference Tuesday. The move might be considered outside the box to some. Both Harper and her predecessor, Holly Warlick, had deep ties to the program.
